NightShift is built so new players can enter the city without feeling buried under hidden expectations. The goal is to get you from joining the server to creating your first memorable scene as smoothly as possible.
Your first hour in the city
- Connect, settle in, and slow down. Take a minute to look around, test your controls, and understand where your character is starting from.
- Choose a simple first goal. A good starter goal is to find work, rent a cheap place, meet a neighbour, buy a phone, or ask around for opportunities.
- Use public places. Job hubs, apartment areas, storefronts, repair shops, city events, and transport services are the easiest places to find people naturally.
- Talk to people before chasing status. NightShift works best when your character builds a network instead of speed-running money, guns, or power.
What a new character actually needs
- A name and a believable age
- A simple reason for being in the city
- A personality, not a novel
- One or two strengths
- One or two weaknesses
- A starter job or direction
Starter scene ideas
- Take a taxi and ask the driver where people usually find work.
- Do a freight run and introduce yourself to a business owner on delivery.
- Attend an event even if you know nobody and start a conversation there.
- Visit a business, ask if they are hiring, and turn that into repeat RP.
- Move into a cheap apartment and meet the people who live nearby.
The most important thing is not having a perfect character. It is showing up ready to speak to people, accept consequences, and let the city change your character over time.
